For my own reference as well as for others, I have managed to install a properly working Firewire under Snow. If 64 bit audio is an interest to some people, you will indeed be disappointed. To make matters worse this G4 already had two of the RPC pci cards in it, rendering the V-Fire a complete waste of cash for me, I only bought it because of the promised drivers and in preparation to leave the PCI slot behind. I assumed most ProAudio folks on these boards would not even try to touch 64 bit for audio at this particular time, possibly even decade. Only bought it 18 months ago. Register a new account. It’s not like it is a ground-up reinvention of the wheel.

Sorry for the inconvenience. I followed the instruction and all audio and midi works fine for my Firewire Audiophile. For good measure, run Kext Utility to clean up extensions caches and 401.

Many thanks for the replies – I am a little disapointed that support for the V-Fire has been withdrawn so soon Why dont you prove that this is not about licensing to Roland or other economic factors? I have found out from someone that Roland scrapped their RBUS which prompted Presonus to call it a day with the V-Fire and tough luck to m-auido customers?!

They actually left this info up on their site for some time after secretly? Back when I bought the V-Fire, the main PreSonus website was trumpeting the imminent release of drivers for contemporary operating systems.

It may not be compatible with Sign in with Twitter.

It was working ok until I upgraded from Tiger to Snow Leopard.
